Internet Marketing Professor, Columbia, SC - Using the Internet to its fullest power to develop your best business presence means being on the first page of Google or at least the second page for each of your keywords. There are definitely specific steps to take to master this, in order to help people and the search engine spiders in finding you.
How is this done? Following are four easy steps to take to bolster your rating:
1. If you do not currently have a blog, then stop what you are doing and do it today. What is it that your business does and what is important to your customers and potential clients? Share the insider information with them, develop relationships, and most of all write in a conversation tone. Do not try to sell through your blog. Its mission is for relationship building.
2. Build your standing within the crowd you associate with. That means connect with the industry movers and shakers. Become known as a go-to person who knows the inside scoop on all things relevant to your niche. In the professional world today, posting and connecting through Twitter and LinkedIn are among the top strategies. Find the top 10 blogs in your niche and post valuable comments to blog postings. make sure you add a signature line in your comment with your name and link to your website and or blog. The material you post needs to be relevant, valuable, and user friendly to others.
3. Become Mr. or Ms. Consistent. Google loves web pages that are update often with specific information. Post to your blog on an almost daily basis and in no time your posting will become ranked very high not to mention your over blog site. Most blogging platforms allow you to pre-post messages and schedule them for later delivery. You can always add time sensitive posts in between.
4. Make sure your blog is being submitted to all of the search engines and blog rolls. This also can be done automatically after making a post by adding the submission sites to the delivery schedule. Are you a local business in your community? If so, ensure your site and blog are listed under as many local search sites like Google Local Search. This helps people find you when searching for businesses like yours in your town. Make sure you add as many keywords as possible within your profile on the local search engines. You can list your business under several topics too.

How Are They Used?
Internet Marketing Professor, Columbia, SC - So, you are thinking of using Twitter hashtags, but are not sure how to exactly use them ? The first thing to do is determine if you with to create your own or use those hashtags in use already. It will not take long to determine there are a huge amount of hashtags being used already. Using those already in use would assist you in group like tweets along with marketing your services and products to your target audience.
You will need to hold back here a bit. No one likes spam and it definitely does not mix well with hashtags. This means you will need to make sure your hashtags stay on subject in every tweet. If you are looking for a way to lose followers real fast, just improperly use hashtags and you soon find that no one is following you any longer
If you decide to develop hashtags of your own, just make sure you use one that relates to your topic and keep it short. Remember that tweets are no longer than 140 characters to include any hashtags being used. This will decrease your message dramatically if your hashtag is too long. You can create hashtags that are in line with your business or name. Ask your followers to use it when tweeting about you and your company. This will allow you to follower what people are saying about you. They are best used to promote your company’s drives and initiatives.
Lastly, hashtags can be powerful tools for your business no matter what the size. They can also assist with increasing the success of your marketing efforts for free.

Internet Marketing Professor, Columbia, SC - Using hashtags on Twitter messages, or Tweets, will greatly assist you with developing a greater online presence and Internet marketing efforts in general. You can either use existing hashtags or generate company specific ones. Once you get the hand of using them and their purpose, you will start to realize the power behind their use.
Social media in general, including Twitter, have become one of the most important groups of business marketing tools to come about in many years. Each social media platform has its own advantages, and for Twitter, it is the hashtags that has become one of the best instruments the online marketing has. No matter what type of business you are in, big or small, small business or corporate, using hashtags in your tweets can provide you with vital business information.
So, Just What is a Twitter Hashtag?
Hashtags are the bits of text (#) that are written into tweets and sent throughout the Twitter universe. Their main purpose is to help categorize and collate tweets containing the same information or subject matter. This is much like placing like information in the same folder.
The use of hashtags will keep tweets about a the same topic in one stream. This then allows you and your clients to locate tweets containing a specific hashtag and topic. The bottom line is that they allow a user to find specific data they are searching for. This saves someone from rifling through message after message in order to target the key information they are looking for.

Social Media Tips: Social Media Tips for Artists
February 26, 2010 by DrDaveHale

Internet Marketing Professor, Columbia, SC - Do you serve a small niche, like the art fair community for both patrons and artists. These events are fine art juried fairs featuring artists who are professional and earn their living at the events. Great social media tools are to have a regular site and also a Ning site. These can be used as a social networking arena where artists come together to share their lives around this business. It is also possible to sell advertising on the site and it can also support the advertising from your website.
Use social media in a number of different ways to gain influence and position within your respective niche market. Use blogs as the basis for your online presence. If you have the time, use different blogs to address different parts of your market.
While the blogs are the foundation of your brand, use Twitter for two reasons: (1) word of mouth marketing through Tweets; and (2) competitor monitoring and checking the pulse of the market through using the Twitter search function. This is quickly becoming one of the most desirable search tools on the Internet while looking for who is asking specific questions.
Use LinkedIn to manage your online professional reputation for and for networking.
Use Facebook ads, the fan page, and messages through the site to target your demographic community and keep your customers informed. Facebook can show the personal side of you and your business.
It is hard to spend much money up front on advertising when starting your own business if you are starting on a shoestring budget.
