Twitter Tips: How To Integrate This Social Networking Giant in 11 Steps

Once in a while, a new technology or innovation comes along that creates an avalanche of followers. Twitter is such innovation. Excitement can quickly overwhelm a person when they start on Twitter and receive their first follower. A couple days later it is up to 10, and in a month into the thousands.
With books such as Joel Comm’s Twitter Power: How to Dominate Your Market One Tweet at a Time the savvy business owner looking to create a sense of community within their niche can locate many strategic techniques that will allow them to turn followers into paying customers.
With many major corporation jumping on the social networking wagon, the time is ripe to learn the top tips on how to utilize Twitter to its fullest capacity.
1. Paste every posting (tweet) in a word processing document to re-tweet (RT) on another occasion.
2. Work smarter not harder. Schedule when to release tweets with a tool such as http://www.hootsuite.com
3. RT the same message a few times during the day. Some of your followers may see it and others may not. law of averages.
4. Type ‘PLS RT’ (please re-tweet) at the end of tweets you wish to become almost viral. This notifies your followers to pass it on to their followers as a tweet from their account.
5. Add a line to your email signature file that says, “Follow me on Twitter” and either hyperlink your twitter account URL to it or type it in following the message.
6. Do you have a blog and website? If so, add icons to all of your pages that enable visitors to go to your Twitter page. It is best not to add it to your Contact Us page because you may not check your direct messages too often. If you have a large following, you may have several hundred direct messages per day.
7. Build a sense of community by tweeting about what you are personally doing not just with your business or career. People follow and buy from those they know, like and trust. A favorite buzz line of the sales and marketing community.
8. Be kind and tweet unto others as they tweet unto you. Reply and RT your followers.
9. Use a picture of you, not your corporate logo. Think about obtaining a professional looking Twitter background with a larger image of you and personal and company information.
10. Make sure you have a link to your website on your Twitter page! No sense in being there if you can’t get people back to your website at some point.
11. Send links to your blog posts, and RSS feed and vice versa. Using a service such as Ping.fm you can automatically have blog entries entered into your Twitter account page and 40 or so other social network sites.
If you integrate some or all of the above eleven Twitter tips, you will not only see your following skyrocket, but your business sales may surprise you too.
