Social Media as a Means of Gaining Freelance and Telecommuting Work

I have had good success with social networking particularly on Twitter and Facebook. Through Twitter I am contacted by local and national news agencies of all sorts to do interviews. Both Twitter and Facebook have allowed me to connect with people to positively impact my business.
But it is important to note that social networking is a two-way street. For example, I might connect with someone who writes a review of my book for their blog. I in return might write something about their business, or interview them on my radio show/podcast. Traditional marketing techniques do not work with social networking. It is the interaction, the give and take from all parties that makes social network marketing successful. That means you cannot toot your own horn all the time. You need to converse with people, spread other people’s messages that you deem worthy, provide support, and respond to what other people are doing.
For several years, I have been working at home, and helping others do the same. I have telecommuted and freelanced online and off, as well as developed information products and other online ventures.
All of these businesses and services are Internet-related. With the use of free or low cost freelance sites and no-cost social media networks like Twitter and Facebook, I find a steady flow of freelance writing, blogging, and editing work along with all of the advertising and expose I can handle.
With the economy the way it is today, anyone can do the same thing. I have helped many people use Internet marketing and social media networks to locate plenty of consulting and freelancing work. In many cases it is so much they continue as a freelancer and give up any thought of working at a company ever again.

One technique used today to build greater membership levels is using a combination of Search Engine Optimization, a LinkedIn group page, Twitter announcements of leads, and using a company blog.
I have used these technique to go from a membership of twenty nine thousand to over forty six thousand in a matter of three months. This was all with a daily marketing budget of five dollars.
This rapid growth also brought an average income of two dollars per month per member, which equates to a little over ninety two thousand dollars per month. This has allowed my companies and services to become known through our industries as invaluable sources of leads as well as being incredibly inexpensive.
2. In addition to these strategies, another tactic which can be used is to allow your members to supply content to your site.
3. Other strategies used to develop membership growth is posting videos to a YouTube channel to basically provide video documentation of the events that I review/attend. Whether this be conferences, expos, or networking events, they all bring traffic back to my web sites.
4. I use OnlyWire and Ping.fm to publish updates to all of my bookmarking and social media pages automatically.
5. Much success can also be achieve tons of success with Twitter as much of the people that need their events, companies, and products publicized have accounts on Twitter. Twitter has also helped me get my proverbial foot in the door of many companies around town.
6. Facebook Fan Pages are slowly growing fans organically (without Ads or other number boosting techniques) and they are usually loyal. Many people have mentioned recently that if done differently, they purchase advertising for their Facebook fan pages right off the bat.

Ping-O-Matic is a very good service to notify the blog roles that you have updated your blog. This is a product of WordPress product that allows bloggers and web site owners to send
messages to social bookmarking services, such as Facebook, Technorati, Digg, and 25 others when a page is published or updated. The sending of the message to bookmarking sites is referred to as a “Ping.”
Another good service to use also is OnlyWire.com. This is a free social bookmarking service and does the same as Ping-O-Matic with 27 social bookmarking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Digg (the best) and many others. The difference here is that OnlyWire.com posts to your own pages which you have developed on each of the bookmarking sites.
With that in mind, you will first have to make accounts with each of the bookmarking services identified on the OnlyWire.com page, then go into your account and enter your login/password info. All you have to do after that is add the URL for the blog posting, hit submit and you are good to go.
Pingoat is another social bookmarking site, which offers English and Non-English social bookmarking sites; 50 in total. Many of these services allow you to download a small icon for your toolbar that you just click on with the web page showing in your browser you wish to book mark.
So, why go to all this bother? As you have read in previous posting here, Link backs to your website or blog are what will make your page rankings skyrocket. The more external links coming into your site means that more people out there in the World Wide Web will see you too.
